Hello!
I wanted to drop in for a quick hello before going to bed. It was a busy day today. We went to a badminton invitational for my middle daughter (which lasted about 5 hours), went to lunch, went to the movies (saw Ghost Town which was great!), went to the gym and then finally got home about 30 minutes ago. I've since showered, posted on SparkPeople and am now winding down for bed.
I had a pretty good day yesterday, with the exception of a large piece of chocolate cake & veggie pizza. I didn't want to de-rail my wonderful week with an evening of bad choices. I let that go....made my YOU turn, if you will and moved forward today. I exercised a little harder at the gym and made my time there count. The decision to have cake will not take over my drive to succeed...it was just cake for heaven's sake. I did allow myself to feel guilt but I didn't allow it to go farther than that. I didn't allow it to ruin my day, or my weekend or my resolve. In some ways I'm even proud of myself for my "post cake reaction". LOL!
However, in the end, I decided no more large pieces of cake. My stomach hurt all night long....I'm just not used to that kind of sugar anymore. It was a bummer and totally not worth it in the end. (Which isn't an entirely bad thing).
OK...that "off my chest", I think I'll head to bed. I'm feeling great! I'm moving forward and I'm looking forward to my Monday weigh in.
Hugs for now.....

A quick hello!
Hi All!
Just a quick hello to say I'm doing and feeling great! I had such a great day of eating and exercising yesterday. I got in 60 minutes of aerobics and 60 minutes of brisk walking. I hit 12,726 on my pedometer. I'm really happy!
Today's already going well too. I've gotten 30 minutes of aerobics in (WATP) so far and am at 5K steps already (it's barely noon and I haven't even really started walking yet).
I've got a great dinner planned that's healthy and wonderful (from the RealAge website)....so I'm excited!
The Biggest Loser Challenge is up and running again. I watched the show last night and it's just so motivational to me. I love to see the transformation of the people and the teams. It's so interesting and I'm just so happy for them. Hopefully over the next 12 weeks I will do some pretty great transforming myself! ;-)
Off to go get some lunch, my stomach is saying "HEY! Aren't you going to feed me something yummy and healthy??". :-) YEP! I sure am.
Have a super day,
Shannon

New Goals, New Attitude!
Hi All!
LTNS! I've been doing a lot of soul searching the last few days. I'm trying to get my head in the right place again. For some reason, I gave myself "permission" to slack off and gain a few pounds back. I'm not sure why that is though. The good thing about that is I have recinded that "permission" and want desperately to get back on track. The last 3 days I have been doing just that. :-)
This morning I got on the scale and I'm at 186 lbs. I have decided that by Memorial Day weekend I want to have lost to at least 150 pounds. I plan to make my actions meet my words too. I have strapped back on my pedometer. I am walking every day. I am exercising at home and am back at the gym. I feel good. I am also committing to write in a journal, post a message on this blog or post on my YOAD board daily. I know that helps me be successful....the lost 75 pounds proves that.
Today I start the Biggest Loser Challenge on Spark People. I want to make the most of it too. It will last the length of the TV show, which I think is 12 weeks. That will be pretty cool because it'll end around Christmas. I think some more weight loss and improved health will be a pretty great present to myself. :-)
I am not going to post my measurements anymore but I will post a weekly weight. I'm continuing to take weekly measurements but I've decided they should not be the focus of this blog....as it seems that they have been the main focus in the past. I think I need to make this more of an emotional link and less of a scientific one. (Which is hard for the scientist in me....I can surely tell you).
I also am hoping to take fairly regular photos. I want to watch the transformation and have it help motivate me forward. The trick will be getting one of the girls to take the pic...LOL.
On that note, I hope you all have a great day! Keep on, keeping on! We can DO this!!
Hugs,
Shannon

Weekly Weights 8/18 & 8/25/08
Here's the scoop from last week & this week...I'm still hammering away here! I've decided to abbreviate the measurements to cover weight, abs, chest & hips (pannus). I keep a full set still but for the blog, I think I'll simplify things.
8/18/08 8/25/08
Weight 186.1 184.7
Abs 37 36.75
Sucked In 34.25 33.5
Chest 42.75 42.5
Pannus 44.25 44
Things are going well. This past week especially! I've really gotten HOOKED to my Wii Fit (I got it for my b-day 2 weeks ago and LOVE it). I also have been working out with a Leslie Sansone DVD (Walk Away the Pounds). I enjoy it, even though it is pretty simple. The time flies when I do it!
I really have done lots of thinking over the past few weeks and I am finally in the right "mode" to continue along my journey. I finally have been making my words meet my actions....which is the key to success.
Someone can "want" something all day long but without putting the WORK forth to earn that something, it will never happen. I know that and I'm putting forth the effort required.
So much is going on with me right now....I'll save that for another post though. I'd actually like to start blogging more regularly about my daily thoughts and feelings. That's one of my short & long term goals. I know that will be an important step towards my permanent success.
I have to run finish dinner....g'night!
Have an amazing night/day!
Hugs from AZ,
Shannon

FREE FALL STOPS TODAY!
OMG---I have had a weight gain free fall and it STOPS today! I have gained 8 pounds since 6/23/08, which was my lowest weight so far. I have been ridiculous and unhappy about it. I haven't set foot in the gym in more than two weeks and I am not proud of that.
I am admitting it. I have to be honest with myself and put things into perspective. I haven't figured out for sure why I'm in this free fall....except I have a few ideas. I'm not sure why someone else's success would sabotage me, but I think I have let it. Why do you suppose that is?
Hmmmmmmm.......
Well here's today's weight & measurements:
Weight-187.1
Abs-38.75
Sucked In Abs-34.5
Neck-14.75
Chest-42.75
R arm-11.75/16
L arm-12/16
R thigh-21.5
L thigh-21.5
Pannus-44.5
OK---time to get up and do something about this! I'm GOING to! I'm READY to!
I'll keep you posted,
Shannon

I'm BAAAAAAAAAAACK!!
Hello Hello!!
I'm FINALLY back from vacation and I had an AMAZING time!! London, Paris, Florence, Pisa and Rome were ALL wonderful!! The girls had a great time too!
I'm FINALLY back from vacation and I had an AMAZING time!! London, Paris, Florence, Pisa and Rome were ALL wonderful!! The girls had a great time too!
Guess what?! I WALKED up the Eiffel Tower! I did it! I felt great and actually had my sister take my pic after I got up the stairs (see above). What do you think? Pretty cool huh!?!
I can't even begin to fill you in on the trip but I wanted to be sure to check in and say that I AM HERE! I am doing fine and believe it or not I actually LOST about a pound and a half overseas. (I kept an eye on things I was eating--for the most part AND walked a TON every day).
I'll be sure to post my weekly weight & measurements on Monday.
Hugs,

Checkin' In!
Hey there!
I thought I'd check before going out of town tomorrow morning. I'm chuggin' along here in AZ.
I started going to step class again on Tuesday night, to help push myself towards my goal. It's a Tues/Thurs class and it goes for 45 minutes. I just got home and it was GREAT! A bit tough, but GREAT! I'm really glad I started the class again. It's been a LONG time since I've taken a class at the gym. I've mostly been doing circuit type training on my own. It's nice to have a group of folks all focused on the same types of goals (in a class).
I made some nice observations, that are different from the last time I was taking this same evening class. I'm no longer the "fattest" one in there---not by a LONG shot. (Kinda cool huh? I know I thought so). I'm pretty coordinated now, without all the weight around me (which is also cool--my core balance is SO much better than it used to be). I don't have to work near as hard as I used to (no worries, I'm still working hard, I'm just not feeling like I'm going to die!). I still sweat like crazy, which is a good thing. I am able to do ALL the exercises without rest, using the heavier weights-8 & 12 lbs (last time I was using the 5 & 7 lb weights). It feels good to see progress! I'm happy with that!! :-)
On that note, I am OUTTA here! Time to finish up my packing and stuff. We'll be leaving bright & early in the morning.
Hugs,
Shannon
